Glowing Eyes for Day or Night

Remember me?!  I warned you this blog may turn out to have been just a summer hobby...In truth, I was on a job hunting/interviewing helluva roller coaster and was feeling too lame and crazed to write anything.  Not to mention, selfies SUCK.  Here's the best I could do to show off how the shadows play off of each other...I know my lid picture looks creepy...but my eyelids look funky closed!  You'll deal and not judge me.

So!  Trying to stay away from browns...I came up with this concoction of colorful-but-not-crazy shadows that can be subtle enough for a day look, or smoked out for a slightly heavier night eye.

Dirty Girl Braid

Hello, lovelies! It's Tuesday. Haven't washed my hair since...Oh, I don't know, Saturday? If you haven't yet checked out Always late, never "oily" part 2: Hair, then you must! In addition to dry shampoo, one great way to hide it (especially if you've just started training your hair not to need so many washes) is to braid the front! Such a simple way to look like you tried really hard...but you didn't. You're just hiding the grease because you were lazy...but maybe don't tell people that, yanno?

RHONJ Smokey Eye

I am a shameless Bravo reality fan and, if you're being honest, so are you. Lately I've been "whoopin it up" enjoying OC Housewives, but nothing beats the ladies of New Jersey. Maybe it's because I'm Italian, or maybe it's because I'm genuinely concerned about the Giudice's legal issues. Either way, I need to keep up.

Since the season premiere is tonight, one thing I feel needs to be addressed is the makeup on the lovely Melissa Gorga. Her smokey eye last season was out of control. And while I don't think it's something she should've worn grocery shopping or while hanging out in her sweats, there's something to be said about how great she looked. Do you, girl. Who am I to judge? She owned it. And I absolutely can't wait to see how she rocks it this season.

In honor of the new season premier, here's my version of Melissa's smokey eye. I debated a glitter eyeshadow to replicate her reunion look...but we all know how much drama that stirs up. Best not go there...

Always late, never "oil-y" part 2: Hair

Ironically, although I've pretty much stopped washing my hair...I'm still always late despite all the time I've been saving.  You read that right - I have gone from a daily hair washer to a bi-weekly washer.  Worked out everyday?  No problem.  Sweat?  Doesn't matter.  Slept in a dumpster?  Still works.  Although hopefully you didn't actually do that last part.

Always late, never "oil-y" part 1: Skin

...See what I did there?  Oily?  Cause it should've been "early" but I did a play on words?

Okay, I'll stop.

Corny pun aside, I usually am late.  And I used to be terribly, terribly oily too.  This issue was one that I thought I would forever suffer from.  My combination skin has forever left me both peel-y and slick.  Cute, right?  A few things have helped, but my current everyday fix for my oily combination skin is
the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 15.  I purchased the jumbo 2 oz size shown above, if that's any indication of how serious I am about this primer.  The other sizes are pumps, so it may look different than mine if you opt out of the jumbo.  It keeps my makeup on throughout the day and controls my oil without drying me out like other mattifying primers/lotions/potions can do.  Did I mention it's water-resistant?  You're welcome.

*Note:  Some people complain that it leaves a white residue.  I found this to be true when I tested it on my hand, but this has never once been an issue on my face.

Another easy fix for the summer when you're laying out with/without makeup is MAC Matte, an oil control gel (that they call a cream) that goes on like silk.  Actually, when I first tried it on my fingers I thought I would hate the feel of it, but it was actually silky, smooth, and truly did mattify my skin.  And it lasted!  Between this and the Hourglass primer...I can't tell you the last time I've used an oil blotting sheet.

Be sure to also check out Part 2: Hair!

Self-Tanner Tips

So, you've purchased self tanner...Now what?

Tan Talk

Old lady at CVS talking the ears off of the store employee about self-tanner.

Me:  Excuse me...are you talking about self-tanner?
Lady:  Yes, I am!
Me:  You need to go online and buy Million Dollar Tan.  And you need to properly moisturize so it lasts longer and you don't flake.  It's the best and you just need to trust me.  I know.
Lady:  I NEED TO WRITE THIS DOWN.  Does anyone have a pen???  Thank you!
